New Type List

Crisis suits are awesome, they're little Gundams I get to run across the board and go pew pew pew!

However, what's the trade off?
The TL Missiles are a great set up.  But the opportunity cost is a kicker.
For the price of 6 missiles, I could have 40 Kroot shots.
Also, the Kroot have more versatility, can assault, and are troops.  Also, they're giant piles of ablative wounds.

So, where does this leave old Gundam John?
The list I'm prepping (post doubles) for next month is Kroot and Railguns.  100 Kroot equal 200 shots.
Also, the mandatory stuff like 6 Warriors and an HQ.

That's not too shabby a volume of fire that can eat Guard and 'Crons in close combat.

Okay, but let's turn it around; for the price of 40 S4 rapid fire guns that can't affect vehicles, have no real chance of wounding T6 models, can't benefit from markerlights, are relatively short ranged (24" if nobody moves, 12" for double shots at which point next turn they're charged for certain) and get no armour, you get six twin-linked shots at 42" (36" plus the 6" assault move backwards) that can deal with up to AV12, can force MCs to roll their saves, and can cut through non-MEq armour.

Also, how big is this tournament? A hundred Kroot, six Firewarriors and a super-cheap HQ ('El with twin-linked MP and a flamer) run you 831 on their own; that doesn't leave a lot for the XV88s which are going to be your sole anti-vehicle shooting, in a game that really favours Marines driving around in boxes.

    1. A Singles tournament at Battleground is over 40 players large.

    2. Sorry, I meant, how big is this tournament in terms of points.

    3. The Doubles tournament this past weekend was 1250 points per player with a split FOC. The Singles tournaments vary in size, between 1500-2500 points, typically around 1850. Next event June 16th is 1500 points.

  2. I should also mention, the "meta" at Battleground is really very different. For example, you really don't have to plan for Space Wolves or Imperial Guard. You do have to make considerations for large infantry squads and assaults.
