1850 Point List

I'm getting ready for a pretty big tourney @ 1850 points.

Somethings I'd like to point out before the obvious is mentioned. It's different, no heavy Kroot screens, no Pathfinders, no plasma.

It's focused on a high volume of shots from accurate units. Pathfinders, while excellent, are expensive and aside from the ability to strip cover, provide diminished benefit in a Twin-Linked list.

Weapons are twinlinked as much as possible. An expensive unit can have 100+ attacks, but if they all miss, what's the point?

Also, while Fire Warriors are reviled as being horrible they do have 5/5 weapons, a 4+ armor save and great enough volume of fire is worth it. 54 Fire Warriors means either 54 30 inch shots of 108 shots at 12 inches. Also, you need them to hold objectives. Fielding a 90 point Devilfish to protect 60 points seems a bad investment over 9 more shots so I'm working on a massed units of Fire Warriors.

The initial change would be to to consider cutting the Kroot and either buff up the Fire Warrior Squads with a full complement and Bonding Knives or 2 more Broadsides equipped with only Target Locks or a Hammerhead or a 2nd HQ Deathrain.

I'm open to all thoughts and feedback.

  1. One problem i have is your units are too similar
    ex.

A Twin Linked Missile Pod, Flamer Team Leader Upgrade + Bonding Knife
B Twin Linked Missile Pod, Flamer
C Twin Linked Missile Pod, Flamer

with this team by the rules you actually cannot control ablative wounds to your favor. Instead you must take wounds all on one unit until it dies
by making all 3 units distinct you gain the advantage of total wound control

I distrust your love of the flamer.
    you have 12.
How much CC are you preparing for.
Considering everyone says that 5th ed is all about MEQ nowadays you have a strange flamer to melta ratio
maybe add some FB's to your crisis teams to get that wound control and some melta power

and in terms of kroot I actually recently found that mathematically they may have some uses other then fodder

  2. You can have some success with this list but it's got a few things I would change. You have a total of 6 xv88s. Split them up into 3 units of 2 each. Then you dont need the target locks.

Why targeting arrays on the piranhas? I used to do this too but realized those are points better spent elsewhere. It's a screening unit that's going to die not shoot. Same for any and all bonding knives. Why? It's next to useless in a competitive environment.

Then I think you should trade at least one fire warrior squad for kroot. As you need to fill up the board with more bodies in a foot list. You need them as a screen. Plus for the same points you get 4 more kroot. Armor save doesn't matter because they should be always claiming cover saves (make sure of this through placement).

    That's my 2 cents.

  3. Old Shatter Hands is right, after engaging the Sisters of Battle Thursday, I made some changes, less Kroot, 3 teams of 2 Broadsides and Plasma and no Bonding Knives.

As for the Targeting Arrays on the Piranhas, it's cheap, increases the chance of hitting and it's a small upgrade for the chance of a unit to take out a Land Raider.
